Had a couple of commissions from my friend Jo for some very simple portraits. This is them:
I also painted some fanart for my buddy Gigi's wonderful webcomic Cucumber Quest, which you should be reading if you aren't already:and here's another thing:I'm still trying to come up with that zine page. I thought maybe this could be that, but I don't know.

I painted this thing today. I was supposed to be making a simple black and white, easily photocopyable page as part of a zine. I have absolutely no idea how it turned into this. None. I'm so pleased with it though!

enough with the dinosaurs already jeeze

Series 4 and 5 of my little dinosaur canvases are finished and that's it! I am done. No more dinosaurs.Series 4 stars Dimetrodon, Dimorphodon, Oviraptor and Diplocaulus.Series 5, here, stars Protoceratops, Spinosaurus, Ichthyosaurus and Dilophosaurus. The dilophosaurus, I was a little disappointed to find out, did not have huge neck frills or spit acid out of its mouth like in Jurassic Park, but was still pretty rad anyway.

As usual, these are all up on the ol' Etsy.

In other news, I got started on my submission for The Sketchbook Project 2012. This year, I got Heroes and Villains as my theme. Here's a little sneak preview:

I should also mention that my Etsy shop now has things on it! It didn't have things on it but now it does. I will be adding more things to it when I have more things to add to it. We'll be running some more local fundraising shows soon to help pay back our loan for the New Designers fees, so I'll want to have as much work available for sale as possible.

mini canvases

Got some tiny canvases from Dave last week, decided to make some tiny collages last night. It's good to break out of your comfort zone every once in a while to get the creative juices flowing. Each one is just 7cm squared.
New Designers is next week! I will be exhibiting alongside a group of fellow Portsmouth Universrity Illustration graduates from the 6th of July to the 9th. Come by and check us out, if you can! It's gonna be a great show.

even more dinosaurs oh my goodness!

Clockwise from top-left we have Pteradactyl, Ankylosaurus (one of my childhood favourites), Triceratops and Plesiosaur. This is the second set I will be selling.
And here we have Kronosaurus, Styracosaurus, Parasaurolophus and - granddaddy of all modern birds - Archaeopteryx! This is set three.

I will keep going until I run out of dinosaurs, or at least until I run out of cool ones. I might be wary of doing too many aquatic ones in future as they require me to break the formula a bit.
I wonder if I could make a living off of just selling cute paintings of dinosaurs. I would if I could.

I set up an Etsy store a little while ago but there's nothing on it yet. A group of us are raising funds to pay for the New Designers expo in London at the moment so most of what I'm making at the moment is going to be sold at local shows. After that's all over I'll put these up on Etsy, along with some other things.

argh.

This has been me, all this week:
It's AWFUL. This is probably one of the worst cases of creative block I've ever suffered from. I'm gonna go out today and buy a bunch of little canvases and just paint dinosaurs and cityscapes until I feel better.
